9/21/23-As the sun sets on another sweet corn season, we are humbled by all the wonderful customers that support our family farm through out the summer. Thank you to everyone who has had such kind things to say to us everyday. We work long hours and most days it's hot, and your kind word goes a long way. Thank you to those of you who understand that this is not an exact science, and lots of what we do depends on weather, something we have no control over. Thank you to those of you who are understanding when we are running a little late because it was raining when we were picking or we were just running a little late. Thank you to those who appreciate all the hours that we put into this crop. We work really hard to make sure that it is the best around, but again lots of this is out of our control. Thank you for seeking us out. Thank you to those who spread the word about the great produce or service that you get from our stands. We feel that word of mouth is the best advertising you can do. Thank you to all those people who value our locally grown produce.

Thank you to everyone who helps us either sell at a stand or pick corn. We couldn't do this without your help and support.
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you to our wonderful customers and employees...we are blessed and so very thankful. See you next season!
Toby and Paige

9/20/23-The last pick of the 2023 season! Today we will have corn and honey in Tilton, Rantoul, and Hoopeston. All stands open at 10 am and close when we sell out. Don't miss out on one last batch until next July. We are so grateful for all of you and your support of our family farm!

9/19/23-And then there were 2 days left of the 2023 season! Today we will have corn and honey in Tilton, Rantoul, and Attica. Tomorrow will be the last day and we will have corn in Hoopeston, Tilton, and Rantoul. Stock up on that Sweetcorn and honey now.

9/18/23-What a stark contrast the last few rows of sweetcorn and our cover crop is the the golden hue of the soybeans and our neighbor's corn field! The mornings are cold and the light pink sky lasts a little longer each morning. The picking of the last patch started today. We will have corn and honey in Hoopeston, Tilton, and Rantoul today. Don't miss out with a couple more dz ears of summertime goodness and a couple jars of honey to get you through the winter. The season will be complete this week.

9/15/23- Reminder no stands open Friday and Saturday.  We will start the last patch on Monday.

9/14/23-Today we have corn and honey in Tilton. This is the only stand that is open today. While the cooler temps have been great for the air conditioning bill it is not favorable for sweet corn growing conditions and has delayed our last patch. We will not have corn Friday or Saturday. We are hopeful that the temps this weekend will move it along and we can pick it the beginning of next week. Stay tuned. We are grateful for you support of our family farm.

9/13/23-Brrrrr...it was a cold one this morning. Today we have corn and honey in Tilton, Rantoul, and Attica/Williamsport. All stands open at 10am Illinois time and close when we sell out.

Plan for the rest of the week remains unclear. Tomorrow we may have a small amount in Tilton. Then we shift to the last patch, which is not ready yet and we are not sure with the cool temps if it will be ready to pick this weekend. It's a day to day thing. Stay tuned!

9/12/23-Today we have corn and honey in Tilton and Rantoul. Now is a good time to not only put corn in the freezer, but also to stock up on honey for the winter. All stands open at 10am and close when we sell out

9/11/23-Today we have corn and honey in Tilton, Rantoul, and Hoopeston. The current patch will probably last through Wednesday. Then it's a waiting game for the last patch. We are hopeful that it will be ready for Friday and Saturday, but if it's not ready we will pick it the first of next week and then we will be done. If you for some reason haven't gotten your corn in the freezer yet...don't delay. Only a few days left.

9/9/23-Today we have corn and honey in Tilton, Hoopeston, and Rantoul. Our season is coming to an end in the next week or so. We have a patch and a half left. Thank you for supporting our family farm.

9/8/23-Corn and honey in Tilton, Rantoul, Hoopeston, and Attica today. All stands open at 10 am Illinois time and close when we sell out.

9/7/23-Today feels more like fall so don't regret not getting one or two more tastes of summer before it's gone. Today we have corn and honey in Tilton Rantoul, and Hoopeston. All stands open at 10 am and close when we sell out.

9/5/23-  Our season is ticking down. Only 3 patches left. Do not delay in getting some in the freezer if you haven't done that yet.  Tilton, Rantoul, and Hoopeston have corn and honey today.  All stands open at 10am and close when we sell out.

9/4/23- None of our stands are open today.  Have a great holiday.

9/2/23-Happy weekend! Today we have corn and honey in Tilton and Hoopeston. The stands will open at 10am.The Hoopeston stand will close about 11 so that Jenna can watch The parade and will reopen after. No Sunday corn sales! Monday we are celebrating our grandson Ben's 2nd birthday so the stands will be closed on Monday as well, but are offering on farm sales that day from 10-4. Have a great weekend!

9/1//23-Our team kicked butt today! Today we have corn and honey in Tilton, Rantoul Hoopeston, and Attica. All stands open at 10 am Illinois time and close when we sell out. Tomorrow Tilton and Hoopeston will have corn. Have a great Friday!

8/31/23- Today we have corn and honey in Tilton, Rantoul, and Hoopeston.  All stands open at 10am and close when we sell out.

8/30/23- Today we have corn and honey in TIlton, Rantoul, Hoopeston, and Attica.  Today we are starting to pick the last patch of the "football" corn.  If this is your favorite make sure you get to the stand.  Our later season corn is also delicious and has more insect protection.

8/28/23-What a difference a week makes! Pickers are back in sweatshirts and there was a heavy dew on this morning. Today we have corn and honey in Tilton, Rantoul, Hoopeston, and Attica. Do not miss out on this exceptional corn. We ate some this weekend, and boy is it sweet.

8/26/23-Everyday is a new chance for a new beginning. This morning it was cooler and everyone had a little more pep in their step. The smell of wet corn and the dragon flies swooping down over the rows as the sun came up was a welcome sight this morning.

Today we started a new patch. It looks really good. We have corn and honey in Hoopeston, Tilton, and Rantoul. All stands open at 10am and close when we sell out. Stay tuned for our plan next week and through Labor day. It's still a work in progress ? Remember no Sunday corn sales.

8/25/23- Today we have corn and honey in Tilton, Hoopeston, and Rantoul.  We are still trying to make the Attica stand work tomorrow.  Stay tuned.  All stands open at 10am and close when we sell out.

8/24/23-A big shout out to our entire crew working through the conditions this week. We love them all. Today we have corn and honey in Tilton, Rantoul, and Hoopeston. We are attempting to get corn to Attica on Friday or Saturday but it's going to depend on availability. Stay tuned. Stands open at 10 am. Get your corn early before it gets too brutal!

8/23/23- Today we have corn and honey in Tilton, Hoopeston, and Rantoul. This corn is beautiful!  We know that Labor day weekend is coming, however it is too early for us to determine what stands will be open when.  We will update as soon as we have a clearer picture.

8/22/23- Customer service is always our priority, and as much as we would love to be to provide corn to meet everyone's needs and schedules, we know that isn't possible. We plant it and then we wait. Our job is to be good stewards of the land and the crop, and pick it at its peak. That is usually a 3-4 day window, depending on the weather. Now, we are expecting to have corn until the middle of September, and we have several good patches to go, but if you want to freeze the "football" variety....this the time. We will have one more patch of the footballs after this, but it is likely to fall during Labor day weekend and corn is in high demand that weekend.Today we have corn and honey in Tilton, Rantoul, Hoopeston, and Attica/Williamsport. All stands open at 10 am Illinois time and close when we sell out. Beat the heat and get to the stands early. We have been selling out quickly.

8/21/23-Today we have corn and honey in Tilton, Rantoul, and Hoopeston. We are planning on having corn in Attica tomorrow. Get to the stands early to avoid the extreme heat. All stands open at 10 am and close when we sell out.

8/19/23- Today we have corn and honey in Tilton, Rantoul, and Hoopeston. Remember no Sunday corn sales so get your weekend corn today.  All stands open at 10am Illinois time and close when we sell out.  Have a great weekend!

8/17/23-  Today we have corn and honey in Tilton, Rantoul, Hoopeston, and Attica.  All stands open at 10am Illinois time and close when we sell out.

8/16/23-Did you know that each of our pickers, on an average, picks between 75-100 dz ears of corn EACH day, 6 days a week and walks between 1/4 and a half mile to get that done, all before 8 am!?! Now of course that depends on the number of pickers we have available on any given day, but that's the average. I can't say enough about the team we have working for us both picking and selling!

Today our team has picked corn for Rantoul, Tilton, and Hoopeston. Honey will also be available. All stands open at 10am and close when we sell out. Attica/Williamsport we will see you again tomorrow (Thursday) so plan accordingly.

8/15/23-Today we have absolutely beautiful corn and honey in Tilton, Rantoul, and Attica. Megan will be back in Hoopeston tomorrow. Attica don't delay in getting to the stand. Stands open at 10am Illinois time and close when we sell out.

8/14/23- Today we have corn and honey in Tilton, Rantoul, and Hoopeston.  We are working on securing a seller for Attica so that we can get corn there this week.  All stands open at 10am Illinois time and close when we sell out.  This corn is great for freezing so get yours in the freezer today if you haven't already.

8/12/23-Rain delayed, lots of mud, short on time, but we did get some picked. Tilton will be the only stand with corn and honey today. We are running a little behind so please be patient. We will get there as quick as we can.

8/11/23- Today we have corn and honey in Tilton, Rantoul, and Hoopeston.  We are going to try and have corn in Attica tomorrow.

8/10/23-Man...who would have thought earlier this season we would be fighting mud, but we are! This morning was a muddy one and the yield fell off more than Toby thought it would. The patch is very uneven as far as maturity and hard to pick so that we don't waste it on the young side. Today we have corn and honey in Tilton and Hoopeston. The stands open at 10 am and close when we sell out. We truly have no idea what stands will be open when. Just when we think we have a plan, the conditions change, or the trend in the patch does not pan out like we thought it should. If you see us out and you need corn, take advantage of it. Don't assume we will be somewhere on a certain day. Don't assume we will be there all day. We would like nothing better then to be at our stands every day, but it's just not in the cards right now. Thank you for your patience and loyalty to our family and our family business.

8/9/23- Limited corn and honey in Tilton, Rantoul, and Hoopeston.  Stands open at 10am.

8/8/23 - All stands remain closed today! We will try again tomorrow (Wednesday).

8/5/23- Today was have corn and honey available in Hoopeston, Tilton, and Rantoul.  Do not delay in getting to the stands.  We do have weather coming in so we are going to be at the stands a little early.  We have been selling out quickly and this would be great corn to freeze go get some.  Remember no Sunday corn sales and we will probably not be open on Monday either since the next patch is not quite ready.  Have a great weekend!

8/4/23 - Happy Friday!!!! Corn and honey will be available today in Tilton, Rantoul, and Hoopeston. We have been selling out quickly so don't delay in getting to the stand. All stands open at 10 am and close when we sell out!

Toby explained it best when he said our yield loss is due to drought induced stress. When we weren't getting any rain the plants were in survival mode and were not growing. They stopped trying to make ears and were just putting all the effort into surviving. Some areas of the field that may normally be wetter kept growing the way they were supposed to. Now that we have begun to get rain the other plants are catching up, but the patches are uneven( some of it ready and some not). This makes our yield lower. We are hopeful that as we move through the patches they will be more even and our yield will be better. Thank you for your continued support of our family and family farm.

8/3/23- Today we have corn and honey in Tilton, Rantoul, and Hoopeston.

8/2/23-Today we have limited corn and honey in Tilton, Rantoul, and Attica/Williamsport. This will probably be it for Williamsport for the week.  We plan on being in Hoopeston tomorrow.  We are hopeful that the yield will be better in the next patch.  Thank you for being patient with us.

7/31/23-The patch is just a little on the young side so we quit picking for today. There's enough for Toby to take it to Tilton and yhere he can evaluate it and make a plan for the week. I will say, this corn is what we have been waiting for...nice sized ears and well filled out. This patch got rain at all the right times. Stay tuned for the rest of the week plan. Toby and Josh will be in Tilton with corn and honey at 10 am.

7/29/23-A little muddier this morning after the overnight rain. Remember we have no Sunday corn sales. Today we have corn and honey in Hoopeston, Tilton and Rantoul. All stands open at 10 am and close when we sell out. Don't delay in getting yours today!

7/28/23 - Lots of love to our team today! We started it out with a lightening delay so we were a half hour late to the field, but they buckled down and picked hard in the rain and now they get to look forward to selling in 100 degree weather. Sweet corn season is not for the faint of heart. Check out these cool pics from the field today and go buy some of this awesome corn. Stands open at 10 am Illinois time and close when we sell out. Today we have corn and honey in Tilton, Rantoul, Hoopeston, and Attica/Williamsport. Attica will not have corn tomorrow. Have a great day and stay hydrated!

7/25/23-What a difference a rain makes! We started patch 3 today and the yield and ear size is substantially better. Today we have corn and honey available in Hoopeston, Tilton, and Rantoul. It looks like we will be able to have our Williamsport/Attica stand open on Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays starting tomorrow. All stands open at 10am Illinois time and close when we sell out. This variety we are in now is the footballs so start making plans later in the week to put some in your freezer. Thank you for your continued support of our family farm.

7/24/23-Today we have corn and honey in Tilton, Rantoul and Hoopeston. All stands open at 10 am and close when we sell out.

7/22/23-Today we have limited corn and honey in Hoopeston, Tilton, and Rantoul. All stands open at 10am and close when we sell out. No Sunday corn sales. Have a great weekend!

7/21/23 -  Today we have corn and honey available in Hoopeston, Tilton, and Rantoul. Corn is limited and will be tomorrow as well. We are hopeful that next week as we move to the next patch (It had rain when it was pollinating.) that we will have a plentiful supply. Please be patient with us as we work through this.

7/20/23-Today we have corn and honey available in Tilton, Rantoul, and Attica/Williamsport.  Corn is limited so don't delay in getting to the stands.  All stands open at 10 am Illinois time and close when we sell out.

7/19/23-We went out this morning and picked a little, but it's just a touch on the young side and we didn't want to waste it, so we stopped. Megan will take the limited amount to Hoopeston today and the stand will open at 10. We will try again tomorrow and hopefully we can get rolling. I will say the recent rains have breathed life back into the crop.

7/18/23- None of the stand are open today.  The patch is not quite ready.

7/15/23- None of our stand will be open this weekend!  Check back next week for more updates.  Have a great weekend!

7/14/23- Limited corn and honey in Hoopeston, Tilton, and Rantoul.  As we expected there will be no corn tomorrow.  The next patch is not ready.  It will be sometime next week.  Stay tuned!

7/13/23 -As we progress through this patch we continue to see yield drop. This makes planning a challenge. We will have corn and honey in Tilton, Rantoul, and Hoopeston today. Tomorrow may be limited and Saturday is not looking promising, but we won't know until Toby has time when he gets home tonight to scout it and walk the patch. We appreciate your enthusiasm and loyalty and please know we would like nothing better then to have every stand open every day, but sometimes things are out of our control. All stands open at 10 am and close when we sell out.

7/12/23-Today we have corn and honey available in Tilton, Rantoul, and Hoopeston. All stands open at 10 am and close when we sell out.

7/11/23- Today we have corn and honey in Tilton and Rantoul. The first part of the season will be rough. The early patches and their yield was substantially hurt by the lack of rain. We are hopeful that the recent rains will help the later patches recover and improve. It's a long season and we have lots of patches so don't lose hope. But in saving that, if you see us at your favorite location don't delay on getting corn if you need it.

7/10/23 - Sweetcorn season has started! Today we got our feet wet...literally and figuratively. We picked a little to see where we are with it. Not the yield we would have liked, but better than it should be considering that lack of rain when this patch was developing. Today Hoopeston will have corn. Stands open at 10 am and close when we sell out. We will assess the corn and make a plan for tomorrow and hopefully get to some or all of the other stands. The Hoopeston stand is in the same place as last year across from Casey's. Welcome to the 2023 Lingley Brothers Sweetcorn season!

Tomato Time

Here it is nearly the third week of January.  Every year my traditional starting time for starting tomatoes from seed is my daughter Jenna's birthday on the 26th.  Easy for me to remember yet every year it seems to sneak up on me.  I have gone back and forth as to whether that is too early or not.  I have waited more toward Valentines Day a few times and it seems like circumstances or weather make either an early or later start the wrong choice for the year.  I start and transplant in the basement where temperatures are cool, keeping the plants under an array of shoplights.  The normally cold (60 degree or so) temps will keep them small and encourage stocky growth.  Sometimes when I start them earlier, I have ended up with warmer conditions and they grow too much.  If I choose later, inevitably I end up with some sort of germination problem or other setback from which I don't have much time to recover.  This year I think I will split the difference, starting SOME now and SOME later....see how that goes!
